BONSAI CARE - Air & Humidity

Trees need fresh air in order to remain healthy. Poor air circulation will result in poor sickly growth and create ideal conditions for fungal and bacterial spores to take hold.

To maintain good air circulation, bonsai should be placed at about waist height, preferably on their own stand indoors, or on slatted benches outdoors. It is important to recognize the difference between fresh air circulation and draft. In the outdoors, wind and draft can be harmful to bonsai. Strong wind can damage the foliage of the tree, which not only disfigures the leaves but also reduces their efficiency.

Always increase humidity by misting the plant, or by placing a tray of pebbles with water or keeping the area under the bench wet.
