BONSAI CARE - Placement

Bonsai must have sunlight. In good light, leaves will be smaller and internodes much shorter (which is the bonsai ideal).

If your trees are placed outdoors ....
  • Provide your trees with some shades. Most trees favor morning and late afternoon sun but not the direct and hot afternoon sun. Most bonsai are kept in shallow containers and thus are especially sensitive to high temperatures. It will be necessary to provide the bonsai container with shade or cool it regularly with water during very hot spells.
If your trees are placed indoors ....
  • If your trees are placed to the window facing South or West, keep your trees a little bit away from the direct sun, but close enough to the window to receive good light. If they are placed to the North or East facing window, there may be a need for your trees to receive additional light via growth lights.
  • Do not place your bonsai directly above or close to any heat source.
